Goal Keeper Richard Anyama stood out as Arua Hill SC held Gadaffi FC to a goalless draw on Wednesday in a crucial matchday 13 clash of the FUFA Big League at the Kyabazinga Stadium at Bugembe in Jinja.

The result ensured that Arua Hill are partially promoted to the Uganda Premier League 2021/22 season as they lead the Elgon Group with 27 points, three ahead of second placed Gadaffi, with a superior 14-goal difference ahead of the season finale slated for Sunday, 13th June 2021.

In Jinja, Anyama stepped out several times to deny the hosts a chance to strike the back of his net, including saving a first half effort from Frank Mulimi.

After an incredible display on the road, Arua Hill Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu says that the custodian’s display was a great one, as it has always been.

“He made notable saves. He has been outstanding through out the season. I don’t know why he is not declared the best goalkeeper because he is very good,  talented and has the confidence,” Mbalangu told the club website.

After 13 games, Anyama who joined Arua Hill in November last year from top tier side Wakiso Giants has kept eight clean sheets, helping the team maintain its league unbeaten run.

However, Mbalangu has also credited the team’s defense for protecting the custodian.

“We planned the way we played.”

“Remember we had gone three games without conceding, so we came knowing we shall not concede as long as we keep compact as we have been doing.”

Mbalangu noted adding that they’ve re-strategized on the way they defend to avoid conceding but also the team’s good attack enables them to keep rival bodies in their territory.

In the season finale this Sunday, Arua Hill will play host to Paidha Black Angels as they seek direct promotion to the nation’s top tier football division with their chances already 99.9% guaranteed.
