Mbale Heroes and Police have secured their return to the Uganda Premier League, with Lugazi FC joining them in their first-ever promotion to the top flight.
Police FC, the 2005 champions, clinched their spot in the Premier League last week, while Mbale Heroes and Lugazi FC confirmed their promotion on Sunday.
With one game remaining in the Fufa Big League, Police FC sits at the top of the table with 53 points, followed by Lugazi FC with 50 points and Mbale Heroes with 49 points, each having established unassailable leads thanks to their victories on Sunday.
Mbale Heroes are making a comeback to the Premier League after a 20-year absence, having last competed in the top division in 2004, following their initial promotion in 1994.
These three clubs will replace Arua Hill, Busoga United, and Gaddafi, who were relegated at the end of the 2023/24 season, a campaign that saw SC Villa crowned as champions.
