Mbarara City FC have denied reports linking the team to former Cranes goal keeping Coach Fred Kajoba, who recently parted ways with last season Stanbic Uganda Cup losing finalists Bright Stars.

The Ankole Lions are yet to name their head coach since the resignation of Livingstone Mbabazi who has since returned to Onduparaka.

According to Mbarara City chairman and also Western youth MP Hon. Mwine Mpaka, the club has not held any talks with Kajoba or his representatives over a possible transfer to the Western based club.

“We have had approaches but no decision has yet been taken,” noted Mpaka. Club media officer Osborn Mushabe had earlier revealed that Mbarara City would make the decision about the position of head coach after extensively resolving their dispute with Onduparaka who signed Mbabazi with a year on his contract.

Mbarara City finished 5th on Premier league table last season and will play URA FC in the opening round of the 2019 Pilsner Super 8 tournament at Kakyeka.

The game was rescheduled by FUFA to Friday August 2 from Saturday, July 27 on Mbarara City’s request since Kakyeka stadium would not be available to host the game as earlier scheduled.

Mbarara district has full ownership of the stadium and have already cleared Prisons to use the facility on July 24-25. They also cleared Vision Group to use the stadium on July 26-28.
