On Thursday, FUFA announced that all positions of the football National Teams are vacant with the exception of the Uganda Cranes, meaning that Head Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic keeps his job despite fans urging him to hit the exit.

‘There were decisions taken during the 28th FUFA Executive Committee meeting but because the Uganda Cranes had games in that period, we held on to reveal them and this is the opportune time,’ FUFA President Moses Magogo told media in a press briefing on Thursday at FUFA Complex, Mengo.

“For the Senior National Team, assessment will be done after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign,” Magogo added.

Uganda Cranes have had mixed results in the AFCON Qualifiers campaign and were on the brink of failing to qualify for the continental hadn’t they picked a surprise 0-1 away win against Tanzania.

With two games to play, Uganda Cranes are joint second in Group F, level on four Points and similar goal difference with the Tanzania. Algeria has already qualified with Niger out of contention.

In the other changes, the Uganda Cranes assistant coach will now double as the head coach of the U23 National Team.

Additionally, the goalkeeping coach and fitness trainer at the Uganda Cranes will head their respective departments, covering the rest of the national teams and will be fulltime employees of FUFA.

The Head coach of the Uganda U20 (The Hippos) will be a fulltime job and he will also be the head of the junior teams’ docket.

The Head coach of the Senior Women’s National Team (Crested Cranes) will be assisted by coaches of the U20 (Queen Cranes) and U17 (Teen Cranes).

Goalkeeping coaches and fitness trainers across all the national teams are as well vacant and the President called on competent Ugandans to apply for the jobs.

The above positions save for the Uganda Cranes are vacant and qualified personnel have been urged to apply once the openings are announced.
