Local football governing body Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has said that Uganda Cranes (men’s national team) Head Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic will remain in his position albeit the legal battle he’s currently facing.

After being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault, Micho was on Tuesday sentenced to three years in prison, wholly suspended for five years, for each count.

However, the Gqeberha Regional Court granted Micho leave to appeal the conviction.

Albeit this development, FUFA says that the Serbian will retain his position in the dugout.

“The Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic asked FUFA for permission to attend to a private matter in South Africa.”

“We have this afternoon received information that the private matter has been concluded for now.
The coach will come back to resume his duties accordingly,” FUFA said via a missive on Tuesday.

According to media reports, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani said that both sentences were wholly suspended for five years on condition that he (Micho) is not convicted of a similar offence during the suspension period.

Micho appeared in the Gqeberha Regional Court on Tuesday where he was convicted after a 39-year-old woman accused him of sexually harassing her during a Cosafa Cup tournament in Gqeberha on 7 December last year.

According to the NPA, the incident happened at Wolfson Stadium when the woman delivered coffee to Sredojevic and others.
