Isaac Mubikirwa was for the third time in a row crowned the Mr. Uganda champion after winning the 2019 edition held last Saturday at Sibyangu hotel, Natete. Mubikirwa, who trains at University of pain gym, Kololo beat five other finalists to retain the title.

Ronald Kalule, who finished 4th last year could not impressed the judges more on the night that also had artiste King Saha performing.

Mubikirwa, who won the Light heavy category in the qualifiers, faced stiff competition unlike last year where he easily beat reigning Mr. Kampala Godfrey Lubega. This was the 29th edition of the annual competition organized by the Uganda body building and fitness association.

Mubikirwa is not in hurry o chase Ivan Byekwaso 5-time championship record. “I am not looking at breaking national record set by Ivan Byekwaso (x5 times) because I want much to concentrate on international events. When you win three times straight, you start thinking of bigger challenges and I am chasing international accolades as a priority,” noted Mubikirwa, who had just returned from Germany.

Ronald Kalule (middle) came second, Godfrey Lubega (Welter) from STS Gym came third, Daniel Bukenya (Light weight) was fourth, Abdu Lubega (Heavy) and Axam kisekka (Bantam) came fifth and sixth respectively. Each finalist was a weight category winner from the total 60 participants.
