NBL playoffs: City Oilers, JKL Lady Dolphins one win away from title

City Oilers and JKL Lady Dolphins are each one game away from winning this year’s Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) title in the men and women’s divisions respectively after they won game four of the playoffs on Wednesday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.

City Oilers and JKL Lady Dolphins who are both title holders in their divisions emerged triumphant over Nam Blazers and UCU Lady Canons with scorelines of 77-74 and 50-59 respectively to win game four of the best of seven series.

Both sides now lead the series 3-1 and could both win their respective titles on Friday evening during game five.

Meanwhile, for Nam Blazers and UCU Lady Canons, they must win all the remaining games (three) if they’re to win this year’s championships.

On Wednesday evening, Ruai Luak led City Oilers with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Francis Azolibe had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists. James Okello posted 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists whilst Ben Komakech managed 13 points and 4 assists.

For Nam Blazers Deng Dikong shot a game high 22 points plus 8 rebounds and 1 assist but his individual brilliance wasn’t enough to help the Namuwongo based side level series.

Amisi Saidi shot 14 points, 11 rebounds and 1 assist, Paul Odong had 14 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists whilst Chris Omanye managed 12 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

In the women’s game, Hope Akello led the way for JKL Lady Dolphins with a double double of 15 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assist.

Ritah Immanishimwe posted 12 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist whilst Evelyn Nakiyinji had 12 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.

For UCU Lady Canons, Rose Akon had 15 points, a whooping 23 rebounds and 2 assists. Millicent Otieno managed 15 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist.
