Nemostars vs UCU Doves, Lugogo
Defending champions Nemostars face last season runners up UCU Doves this Friday in the 2019 national volleyball league season opener.
Nemostars beat UCU Doves 2-1 in the best of three series play-offs final and the latter will have revenge on the agenda when the two sides clash at MTN Arena, Lugogo.
Nemostars are fresh from continental men championship in Egypt where they finished sixth –which is Uganda’s best ever performance on the stage.
Coach Andrew Okapis is certain that Nemostars carry the favorite tag as the league serves-off.
“We are very ready for any challenge that comes our way. Out target is again to retain the title and nothing less,” said Okapis, who believes that his side has been further strengthened by the recent continental showpiece engagement. On Wednesday, the Kololo-based side unveiled four new signing s including; Bernard Malinga (centre blocker), Emma Elanyu (starting libero), Nicholas Agaba (libero) and Timothy Kyambalango (setter). Florence Kitui (centre blocker) joins Nemo’s women’s side from Espoir.
