The 2019/20 National beach soccer league kicks off this Sunday at the Lido beach, Entebe with all the 14 teams in action.

New comers Kiringente will hope to record a winning start on their debut in the top flight beach soccer when they take on Talented in the last game of the day. Under youthful coach Reagan Kyanda, 28, the newly founded Kiringente lost 6-2 to Buganda Royal institute in their first competitive match during the 2019 Muwanguzi Cup to finish 8th at the tournament won by St. Lawrence University (SLAU) after 6-4 win over Isabet in the final.

“We are ready to compete despite us being a young team. We are not playing under pressure but we intend to finish in a respectable position,” noted Kyanda. Meanwhile, defending champions SLAU will also hope to start their title defence campaign with a winning start when they take on Entebe Sharks in the opener.

UBSA official Ssemwogerere Mukiibi picked Kiringente in the 2019 Muwanguzi Cp=up draw recently

This will be the third game of the day and coach Davis Nunu believes that they can replicate last year’s performance as they seek their third league title after 2013 and 2019 success.

The University side won the league, Muwanguzi Cup, University Championship and the Uganda Cup to cap a splendid season.

The side that won the league with three matches left after opening up a seven-point gap from runners up and previous champions ISABET, also had the league’s top scorer, Most Valuable Player (MVP) and best keeper. Muteesa 1 Royal University were meanwhile the women league defending champions.

Wolves, Kiringente, Muteesa 1 Royal University and Kyadondo Galacticos are the newly promoted sides while Stormers are yet to register and are likely not to be part of this season’s action.
