NGO League: Los Bandidos win Season 4

After months of intense competition, Los Bandidos, the Class of 2005, emerged as champions, clinching the title with a razor-thin margin of just one point.

They amassed 45 points over the season, narrowly edging out Ba Musaayi Muto (Class of 2004), who finished second with 44 points at Season 4 of the Guinness sponsored NGO League that came to an end yesterday at the Kampala Parents Sports Complex.

The prestigious alumni league, which brings together old boys of Namilyango College, delivered a finale befitting its growing reputation.
From the kick-off of the first match to the final whistle of the season, Los Bandidos were a team on a mission. In Sunday’s finale, they put on yet another masterclass, sealing their place in history as champions of Season 4.

Tom Agaba of Los Bandidos, reflected on their remarkable journey to glory stating “This season was all about resilience and discipline,” he said, as his team raised their trophy at the prize giving ceremony. “We’ve worked hard, trained harder, and today, we reap the rewards.”

Individual brilliance also lit up the league this season. Ivan Otai from the Barbarians finished as the top scorer, netting an impressive 12 goals across the campaign.

Muliiko Cranmer of the Spartans earned the Best Goalkeeper accolade, keeping an astonishing 15 clean sheets. Meanwhile, Fred Sekweyama of Los Bandidos showed his playmaking prowess, leading the league in assists and playing a role in his team’s success.

Patience Aguti, Project Manager at UBL, one of the league’s key sponsors, commended the players and organizers for their dedication to the league’s success. “It’s amazing to see how far the NGO League has come. This year’s competition was more exciting than ever, and we’re thrilled to have been part of it. We look forward to seeing even more teams and fans come together next season,” she said.

Off the pitch, the NGO League has grown into more than just a competition. The Sunday matches have become a favourite family outing, with friends, alumni, and supporters gathering to enjoy themselves and the festivities. What began as a nostalgic initiative for Namilyango College alumni has evolved into a community event.
