Floodlight brilliance: KCCA triumphs over Busoga in UPL encounter

In a captivating showdown under the floodlights at the MTN Philip Omondi Stadium – Lugogo, KCCA FC delivered a stellar performance, clinching a commanding 4-1 victory against Busoga United FC in a thrilling Uganda Premier League encounter.

The match, held on the evening of Thursday, March 28th, 2024, witnessed KCCA asserting their dominance from the onset. With the stadium illuminated by floodlights, the atmosphere was electric as fans eagerly anticipated an exhilarating display of football.

KCCA wasted no time in asserting their authority on the pitch, with Filbert Obenchan leading the charge with an early goal at the 18th-minute mark. Saidi Mayanja further extended KCCA FC’s lead, slotting in another goal to give his team a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

As the second half commenced, KCCA continued to shine under the floodlights, with Mayanja showcasing his prowess once again with another goal. Usama Arafat scored the other.

The final whistle blew with KCCA emerging victorious with a resounding 4-1 win over Busoga whose only goal was scored by Isaac Isinde in the 80th minute. The floodlit stadium erupted in celebration as fans cheered on their team’s impressive performance under the night sky.

Mayanja emerged as the standout player of the match, with his hat-trick playing a pivotal role in securing the win for KCCA. Additionally, contributions from players such as Emmanuel Alex Wasswa and Arafat Usama Kiza further bolstered KCCA’s dominance on the field.

With this triumph, KCCA continues to make strides in the Uganda Premier League standings, as they are now seventh with 32 points. Meanwhile, Busoga are 14th on the 16-team table with 17 points.
