Nile Special 7s, Entebbe circuit
Finals
*Heathens 12-10 Hippos
Joacquim Chisano was named man of the match in the finals of the Entebbe circuit of the Nile Special 7s as Heathens beat Jinja Hippos 12-10 in the finale of the second event of the series.
Chisano was on the score sheet in the final as Heathens recovered from a try down to post a lead at the Namate Works Ground. He was also named circuit MVP and also emerged top try scorer of the one-day event.
“It feels good to put up such a good performance but above all I’m happy that the team won the circuit. We look forward to the next events of the series,” Chisano said.
Meanwhile, Hippos tries were ran in by Denis Etwau who opened the scoring in the game and Timothy Mugisha whose try in the last moment of the game if converted would have evened matters and forced extra time.
Heathens passed through tricky tests to attain glory as they faced first circuit winners Stanbic Black Pirates in the semis but emerged 31-00 victors. The two sides also faced off at group stage level and the game ended 7-7.
Pirates finished fourth in Entebbe having lost to Toyota Buffaloes in the 3/4 position placement game.
Pirates still lead the table of the Nile Special 7s with 37 points, just three ahead of Heathens who are second with 34. Hippos and Buffaloes have 32 points each.
The series will take a one-week break and action returns on 27th August at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua. Four more circuits will be played at Kings Park Arena Bweyogerere in Wakiso, at Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal, at Bugembe in Jinja and finally at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.
