Event: Nile Special 7s, Mileke circuit

Uganda Rugby Union on Monday, 4th July held draws and revealed group stage games of the opening round of the Nile Special 7s that will happen on 9th & 10th July, 2022 at Legends Grounds in Kampala.
Dubbed the Mileke circuit/Mileke 7s, the opening round of the Nile Special 7s series will be hosted by Warriors as it has always been.
Title holders Kobs are in Pool A alongside fellow top tier side Impis. Lower divisions sides Walukuba Barbarians and Jaguars are in the same pool.
Pool B has last season’s runners up Stanbic Black Pirates and circuit hosts Warriors. BOKS who gained promotion to the top tier division of the XVs league are in the same group alongside Pirates development side Sailors.
In Pool C, there are two giants in the shape of Heathens and Plascon Mongers who are all top tier sides in the XVs format of the game. Rams who had many wins in the XVs league are in the same group and they cannot be just written off. Rams development side, Rams 2 are in the same pool and this could be the most difficult group for all the sides.
Top tier sides Hippos and Buffaloes headline Group D. Rhinos are another side to look out for while Ntangas who are the lowest ranked will take their chances.
Meanwhile, the Mileke 7s that will mark its third staging this year is played in celebration of rugby parents Deborah Mileke and the now departed Patrick Mileke who have been instrumental in the development of Warriors RFC and whose impact has also been felt and continues to be felt across the entire rugby fraternity.
After the Mileke circuit, the next round of the Nile Special 7s will be held at Mbale Sports Grounds and will be hosted by local outfit Mbale Elephants. The series will return in August for there will be national team engagements later this month.
