The 11th edition of the Ntare Lions League was launched last Saturday at Panamera Bar. Action started right away the following day at the Kings Park, Bweyogerere and will run for 18 weeks.

The previous editions were held at GEMS Cambridge International School, Kampala. Ntare Lions League is played on Sundays with an intention of providing a networking platform to Ntare school old boys.

The competing teams comprise of Ntare School Old Boys that studied together at the same time from S1-S6. This year’s edition has attracted Jumia, Guinness, NEXT Media and Peak Shots sponsorships.

“We are very excited to be part of this. I think this is the biggest venue for Ntare old students to come together,’ Jumia’s Samantha Abaho noted at the launch.

Ntare League President Davis Arinaitwe Karashani, also former Uganda Cricket Cranes Captain, revealed that they want to add swimming and basketball on the games for competition. Guinness’ Kelvin Gumisiriza is happy that they are part of the event for the first time.

Ntare League started 5 years ago with just four inaugural teams, but currently has 17 teams that have confirmed participation.

The games will be played for 60 minutes with each side allowed 10 players on the pitch although with unlimited substitutions. Egrets of Bweranyangi Girls SSS (FC Bweras) will once feature after their debut last season.
