Kampala 2-3 Weatherhead

Weatherhead Hockey Club maintained their unbeaten run in the Uganda Baati National men Hockey League after their 2-3 win against Kamapala Hockey Club on Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium, Lugogo.

Arnold Kasumba opened the scoring for the former champions in the 12th minute before Peter Elolu doubled lead six minutes later.

Kampala’s first goal came through Isaac Kyeyune in the 21st minute Isaac Kyeyune scored Kampala’s first goal before Vincent Kayanga leveled matters in the 48th minute.

Despite the hard fight, Kampala conceded through forward and coach player Vincent Arnold Kasasa who scored Weatherhead third in the 50th minute.

The win opened a nine-point lead for Weatherhead at the summit against second placed Wanainchi that has 32 points in 15 games.

Earlier, league debutants Makerere Stingers condemned Historicals to a 5-1 defeat. Emmanuel Mukama scored in the 14th and 21st minutes,  Richard Musimenta scored Makerere’s third goal in the 34th minute before Ashley Akoragye scored the fourth goal in the 43rd minute.

Edbert Bagasha made it 5-0 in the 50th minute but Gannyana Walugemebe scored Historicals’ only consolation in the 56th minute.

Historicals have only won once and are at the bottom of the table with three points. Makerere are 4th on the 7-team table with 16 points.

Kampala are third with 22 points while Rockets are 5th with 14 points. City Lions are 6th with 12 points.
