Kirinya Jinja SSS Junior Team is struggling due to fatigue, according Head coach Hassan Zungu.

Jinja SS lost 1-0 to Express Junior team at home on Sunday despite need to win and keep track on table leaders and rivals BUL.

Derrick Lubega’s finished off a well-crafted work by Billy Nkata for the only goal of the match with the loss leaving Jinja SS in 4th place, 7 points behind leaders UL Junior team, who toiled to a 2-1 away win at SC Villa Jogoo.

Zungu was in charge of Jinja SSS school team that managed lost to champions St Mary’s SS-Kitende in the final of the 2019 Copa Cola-Cola finals in Jinja.

The Junior Team had 15 players in the school team –which was the highest number from the 16 junior league sides.

“They played a lot of games in the tournament; about ten games in 13 days. They still need enough time to rest and recover and that is why lead striker Lawrence Tezikya (also Copa top scorer) started on the bench,” noted Zungu.

Elsewhere, KCCA Soccer Academy opened a four-point gap against second placed Vipers Junior Team in the in Treble group after 3 points by forfeiture following Arua-based Onduparaka Junior Team’s failure to turn up at Lugogo due reported financial struggles albeit FUFA providing transport for away teams.

Vipers can cut that gap this Wednesday when they host Ndejje University Junior Team at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende whilst Maroons Junior Team also host Paidha Black Angels in Luzira as the second round climaxes ahead of third round that kicks off this Saturday.
