Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named a 28-player squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Tunisia and Libya, as well as two international friendly matches against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).
Uganda will travel to face Tunisia on September 24, 2026, before hosting Libya on September 29 as the Cranes begin their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
The team will then take on DR Congo in two international friendly matches on October 2 and October 5, bringing an action-packed international window to a close.
The squad includes experienced goalkeeper Denis Onyango of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, alongside SC Villa’s David Lukwago and NEC FC’s Hannington Ssebwalunyo.
In defence, Put has selected Toby Sibbick of Burton Albion, Jonathan Odongo of UPPC FC, Rogers Torach of CS Constantine, Aziizi Kayondo of FC Slovan Liberec, Herbert Achayi of KCCA FC, Herbert Bockhorn of FC Magdeburg, Nathan Asiimwe of Salford City, Geofrey Lubanga Kene of SC Villa, Hillary Mukundane of Vipers SC and Gavin Kizito of Nairobi United.
The midfield options are Baba Alhassan of Mardin 1996 Spor, Noble Okello of Lexington SC, Kenneth Semakula of Al Ittihad Alexandria, Allan Oyirwoth of Dunfermline FC and Joseph Seremba of Nairobi United.
Put’s attacking options include James Bogere of AGF, Travis Mutyaba of CS Sfaxien, Denis Omedi of Gor Mahia, Rogers Mato of Hearts, Hassan Mubiru of Azam, Sadam Masereka of Colorado Springs Switchbacks, Steven Mukwala of Al Nasr SC, Richard Basangwa of NEC FC and Frank Ssebufu of SC Villa.
The four-match schedule falls within the FIFA international window running from September 21 to October 6, giving Put an opportunity to assess his squad in both competitive and friendly fixtures.
