Over 60000 to grace 2019 Airtel-Kabaka Birthday Run

After a sell out of the 2019 Airtel-Kabaka birthday run, it is now confirmed that not less than 60000 people will run to celebrate Kabaka (King) of Buganda’s 64^th birthday whilst running for life. The run due this Sunday comes ten days before the official 64^th Kabaka’s Birthday celebrations on April 17th in Ndejje, Luwero. On Thursday, the chairman organising committee Robert Kabushenga confirmed that they had ordered for 60000 kits and had been sold out three days to the run. The Run intends to alleviate Sickle Cell Disease through raising funds and awareness. Last year, over 140,000 Sickle Cell testing kits were donated to Uganda National Health laboratory Services procured by Airtel-Uganda from the proceedings of this run. The runners will be flagged off flagged off by the Kabaka, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II early in the morning at Lubiri, Mengo. Participants will partake in 5km, 10km and 21kms respectively. Uganda breweries, Rwenzori and PostBank are the other sponsors.
