The Parliamentary Select Committee on the inquiries into the operations of National Council of Sports (NCS) made a formal visit to FUFA Complex on Tuesday.

The purpose of the visit was to aid the Committee continue with its investigations into the running of the body that supervises all sports federations in Uganda.

The Members of Parliament that included Geoffrey Kayemba Solo, Iddi Isabirye, Caroline Akullo, Rose Inzikuru, Rahma Bigabwa and Margaret Makhoha who are all members of the Select Committee all were part of the delegation.

FUFA’s top brass was headed by FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha who officially welcomed the Select Committee in the company of FUFA 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, FUFA EXCO Member Rogers Byamukama and FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.

It should be noted that FUFA had an interface with the Committee last week at Parliament of Uganda as part of the latter’s investigations and this week, the Committee is visiting various Federations.

Kayemba, the Member of Parliament for Bukomansimbi South but also the Vice- Chairperson of the Committee lauded FUFA for being transparent in their inquiries.

“I thank FUFA for giving us all the necessary support and information as we make inquiries into the operations of the National Council of Sports. We are making formal visits to Federations to really know what exactly happens beyond the playing areas and we hope this will enable us to form a good report.” He said.

Mugisha on behalf of FUFA, commended Parliament and believes the inquiry will unearth several challenges that the Federations face.

“We have had a good engagement with the Select Committee. Last week they asked us to avail some documents and have done today. We believe this will help them come up with a good report to avert some of the challenges we face.”

FUFA CEO made a power-point presentation to the Members of Parliament highlighting FUFA and its development goals.
