Uganda Cup Round of 16

Mbale Municipal Stadium

MBALE – Proline completed a double over Mbale Heroes to ensure safe passage into the Uganda Cup quarter finals.

The Lugogo based side who had won the first leg 2-1 on Sunday, defeated Mbale 1-0 in the second leg to win the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

Ibrahim Ssendi scored the solitary goal on the afternoon, netting in the first half to erase any hopes of a Mbale comeback.

Despite the commanding lead in the tie, Norman Kugonza was sent off for Anthony Bongole’s side in the second half.

Never the less, the defending champions saw out the result without any major issues.

Proline who had earlier in the last 32, eliminated Uganda Premier League side MYDA FC, join six other side who had already sealed their spots in the last eight.

KCCA FC, SC Villa, Vipers SC, Wakiso Giants, Police FC and Express FC are the sides that are already into the quarter finals.

The other remaining tie of the round of 16 has BUL FC leading Kigezi Home Boyz 2-1 from the first leg.

With last season’s Uganda Cup nullified, Proline are still the defending champions of the competition having defeated Bright Stars on penalties in the 2019 final played at Masaka Recreation Grounds.
