Classification match

Wednesday, 4pm

URA vs Proline, Namboole

URA FC Coach Sam Ssimbwa believes that despite being at home, his side will come as the underdogs this Wednesday against Proline FC in the Pilsner Super 8 tournament classification match at the Namboole stadium.

URA lost o Mbarara City at the Preliminary round while Proline lost to Vipers SC who already made their way to the finals after seeing off Mbarara City at Kitende in penalties.

“Proline are in their best moods and highest spirit ahead of the match. They are coming from a big win at the continent and will want to keep the tempo. We may have better and experienced players, but Proline are in a better winning form,” noted Ssimbwa, whose side will not have Patrick Mbowa, Brian Majwega, Hassan Kalega and David Bagole available.

Proline Coach Shafik Bisaso is expected to hand new signings Diego Hamis Kiiza and Alfred Leku their debuts after missing out on the big win on Saturday as the Uganda Cup champions walloped Masters Security from Namibia 3-0 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

Sam Ssimbwa

This was the First Leg of the 2019/20 CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary round. Both Diego and Leku joined the newly promoted side after the CAF registration and thus will only be used domestically.

Proline will come into the fixture with memories if the May, 2018 meeting between the two sides when the 2-1 loss at home confirmed their relegation to FUFA Big league. URA was under Sam Ssimbwa then while Proline was under Mugib Kasule.

The winners of the tie will play the winners between Wakiso Giants while the respective losers will also face each other. Vipers SC already made it to the final and wait for the winner between KCCA FC and Onduparaka in the other semi final scheduled for this Friday in Lugogo.

The Pilsner super 8 pre-season eight-team tournament is sponsored by Uganda Breweries Limited through the Pilsner Lager brand and the winner of this second edition has Shs20m while the Runners Up have Shs12m at stake.

The third and fourth placed teams will get Shs10m and Shs8m respectively while the rest of the teams will get Shs1m less from Shs6m according to final positioning.
