Stanbic Uganda Cup –Round of 64

Unimpressive KCCA FC beat third division side Catda FC 2-0 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo on Friday to progress to the round of 32 in the 46th edition of the Stanbic Uganda cup. KCCA latest January signing Moses Aliro scored on his debut in the 88th minute after center half John Revita also found his first goal in the opening half since joining the 10-time Cup winners from Express in early August 2019. Aliro, a full back signed a four-year deal with the reigning Uganda Champions on Thursday from Doves All Stars and he was given jersey 3 previously donned by Lawrence Bukennya who is at Wakiso Giants on loan. “I want to work hard and make the fans, coaches happy and also show I deserve to don the shirt,” noted Aliro. Elsewhere, URA FC eliminated Lugazi municipal with a 4-0 win at the Mehta stadium in Lugazi. Michael Birungi opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Cromwel Rwothomio doubled lead 22 minutes later. Skipper Shafick Kagimu added the third as the Tax Collectors carried a 3-0 half time lead. In-form Saidi Kyeyune scored the 4th in the 78th minute. Rothomion has now scored four goals in as many last games.

BUL dumped out

Uganda premier league side BUL FC continued with their poor run as they were ejected by Mvara Boys from Arua in penalties. The two sides settled for a 1-all draw in the normal time before the hosts prevailed 4-2 in penalties. Mvara Boys went ahead in the 28th minute courtesy of Gabriel Matata goal before BUL equalised 20 minutes later through Richard Wandyaka. BUL joined Vipers SC, Onduparaka, Busoga United as the StarTimes Uganda premier league sides to be dumped out of the 2019/20 campaign. Kansai Plascon eased past Soroti FC with a 4-0 victory while fellow StarTimes FUFA Big league side Nyamityobola needed penalties 0-3 triumph to progress after a 2-2 all draw. Action continues this Saturday and Sunday.
