Vipers Sports Club Head Coach Robertinho Oliviera is in pole position to win the Pilsner Uganda Premier League (UPL) Coach of the Month award for the month of May after he was nominated for the same.

Oliviera and his (Vipers SC) midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga are among the nominees for the coach and player of the month awards respectively.

If he succeeds, the award will be Robertinho’s fourth in the 2021/22 UPL season. His maiden gong came in December last year with the second one coming in March 2022 while he also picked the April 2022 gong.

Robertinho is more likely take the award home after he guided Vipers SC to winning the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title including winning the season finale against Police FC last weekend before they were crowned champions at their own backyard, St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Vipers also beat Wakiso Giants in the month of May.

Robertinho is nominated alongside Mubarak Wamboya (Gaddafi) and Alex Isabirye (BUL).

In May, Mubarak led Gaddafi FC to three wins as they capped the season on a good note, beating Tooro United, KCCA FC and Busoga United in the process. They scored 10 goals and conceded one in that period.

Isabirye on the other hand guided BUL to wins over SC Villa and Police FC though the side lost to Express FC.

On the other hand, Bobosi will face off with Frank Kalanda (Police FC) and Cromwell Rwothomio (URA FC) for the player’s gong.

Bobosi netted three goals and two assists in May as Vipers ended the campaign in style.

Police’s Kalanda stood out albeit his side getting relegated. He scored five goals in May and the Pilsner gong will be a big consolation for him if he is voted winner.

URA’s Rwothomio also scored five goals in May as the tax collectors finished third with 55 points.
