Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC have announced the return of striker Sadat Happy Anaku back to the Lugogo based club.

Anaku, who rejoins after a brief stint with Scottish football side Dundee United, signed a deal with KCCA FC that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2024–25 season.

The 23-year-old forward expressed his excitement about coming back to the club where he started his football career, saying, “I feel so happy to be back at KCCA FC where it all started. I am eager to compete with my mates to help the club achieve its objectives. I love the fact that when I came back here, I found several familiar faces in the dressing room and this place simply feels like home. I am thankful to the club board, management, and Head Coach for having granted me this opportunity to return to KCCA FC, and I cannot wait to get started again.”

Anaku first joined KCCA FC as a student at Kibuli Secondary School in 2016, rising through the club’s junior ranks. He made a significant impact in the FUFA Juniors League, where he set an impressive record, scoring 83 goals in 52 matches – a feat that makes him the league’s all-time top scorer.

After progressing to the KCCA FC senior team in 2019, Anaku quickly made his mark, netting 6 goals in his debut season. His goal-scoring prowess continued to shine in subsequent seasons, where he recorded 9 goals in 20 games during the 2020/21 season, followed by 7 goals in 23 games during the 2021/22 campaign.

In August 2022, Anaku became the first KCCA FC player to join a Scottish club, signing with Dundee United. However, after a brief spell overseas, he returns to his former club, with a tally of 22 goals in 67 appearances for the KCCA FC senior side, alongside his 83 goals for the junior team.

Anaku’s return is seen as a boost for KCCA FC, as he brings back a wealth of experience and familiarity with the club’s playing style. He will wear the number 8 shirt for the 2024/25 season and will compete for a forward position alongside Derrick Nsibambi, Abubaker Mayanja, and Emmanuel Anyama.

With his goal-scoring track record and passion for the club, Anaku is poised to play a key role in KCCA FC’s campaign this season.
