Kitara FC delivered a jaw-dropping performance on Saturday, routing Express FC 7-0 in a one-sided StarTimes Uganda Premier League clash at Butema Grounds, Hoima.
George Senkaaba stole the spotlight with a brilliant hat-trick, while Jude Ssemugabi added a brace.
Fred Amaku and David Ndihabwe completed the rout, as Kitara showcased their attacking prowess.
This emphatic victory marked Kitara’s fourth win in five matches, propelling them two places up the league table to ninth, now on 17 points. They trail league leaders Vipers SC by 11 points but have established themselves as a formidable force in recent weeks, scoring an impressive 21 goals in five games.
Kitara’s dominance began early, with Senkaaba heading home a Solomon Okwalinga cross just two minutes into the match. Ssemugabi doubled the lead in the 21st minute with a stunning solo effort, dribbling past multiple Express defenders before finishing with precision. Amaku made it 3-0 in the 36th minute, capitalizing on a lay-off from Senkaaba.
The second half saw no respite for Express, as Senkaaba tapped in his second goal in the 58th minute from a Ssemugabi assist. He completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute, slotting home a rebound. Ssemugabi added his second goal moments later, and Ndihabwe sealed the win with a late strike in the 86th minute.
Express FC’s struggles continue, with this being their second consecutive defeat. Despite sitting fifth on the table with 19 points, their defensive frailties were exposed, conceding 10 goals in two matches.
For Kitara, the result highlights their upward trajectory under coach Wasswa Bbosa. With this momentum, they’ll aim to climb further up the standings as the season progresses.
