Excitement is palpable as the Serena 63 Golf Series teed off its first quarterly event this morning, May 25, 2024, at the picturesque Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo.

Now in its second year, the Serena 63 Golf Series, proudly presented by I&M Bank Uganda and Serena Hotels, has already seen players hit the greens, showcasing their skill and determination. Today’s event promises to be a highlight, featuring not only competitive rounds but also a prize-giving ceremony this evening.

Rebecca Nassimbwa, one of the officials for the series, shares her enthusiasm for the event: “We’ve witnessed some incredible talent on the course already, but the excitement is building for the awards session this evening. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled evening, with entertainment and celebration, as we honor the standout performers of the tournament so far,” she said.

This year, players are vying for prizes worth UGX 40 million, including an exclusive annual golf membership at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa. With the stakes higher than ever, anticipation is mounting for the awards session, where champions will be crowned and accolades bestowed upon the deserving winners.

Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank Uganda, echoes the sentiment, expressing her anticipation for the event. “As we prepare to celebrate the achievements of our talented golfers,” she remarks, “we’re proud to be a part of an event that not only promotes sporting excellence but also fosters community engagement and camaraderie.”

Apart from the excitement surrounding the tournament, I&M Bank is thrilled to provide special perks for top-performing golfers. Specifically, the bank will invite five winners to join the esteemed I&M Invitational Golf Tournament in Kenya.

As the Serena 63 Golf Series progresses, participants eagerly anticipate its second quarterly event scheduled for August 10th, leading up to the highly anticipated grand finale on November 30th.

Reflecting on the inaugural edition, David Plenderleith emerged triumphant, showcasing exceptional skill by amassing an impressive 1299 points from 39 rounds. Lin Chen You and Duncan Kaggwa secured their positions on the podium, setting the stage for an electrifying competition this year.

Registration for the series is still open until May 31, 2024. Interested participants must provide a valid CDH/ID and can register using this online link: https://forms.gle/FpSpEBfZpN5vvmU97.

The winners of the tournament will be announced on November 30, 2024. Weekly updates on point standings will be shared with all registered players, while quarterly winners of the Order of Merit shall be announced as the competition progresses.
