Sinocham injects shs16m in Entebbe Marathon due Saturday

Sinocham, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce have injected Shs16m in the fourth edition of Entebbe marathon due to take place this morning. Lina Cao, who represented Sinocham, said that the proceeds of the marathon will be used to revamp dilapidated UPE schools in Entebbe Municipality. The Entebbe Mayor Vincent De Paul noted that the top three runners in the 10km, 21km and 42km races respectively shall represent Entebbe Municipality in this year’s Wuhan City international championship due April 14 in Wuhan city, China. Kayanja revealed that this year’s marathon is expected to attract 7000 participants and they expect to collect Shs70m. “The proceeds will be used to facelift dilapidated UPE schools, improve school compound and purchase of computers in various government schools within Entebbe Municipality,” noted Kayanja, who also disclosed that Shs80m was collected in last year’s marathon which money was used to remove asbestos iron sheets, putting up water purifiers, fixing broken glasses and also purchasing computers in UPE schools within Entebbe municipality. Rosemary Namulumba, the head teacher of Kiwafu primary school and Barnabas Katumba, the head teacher of Chadwick Namate primary school commended Sinocham and Entebbe municipal council for the sponsorship towards revamping UPE schools within Entebbe municipality.
