Matchday 16 of Season 6 of the SMACK League scheduled for Sunday, 3rd December will be a hub of activity as game day hosts ZIMBAZ will be championing Autism awareness in the sidelines of the main event. The bi-weekly league always held at Legends Grounds in Kampala will this time round be dedicated to raising funds and awareness towards Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD in children.
To make the cause a success, Zimbaz, cohort of 2001-2006 will be selling special ZIMBAZ Xmas edition T-shirts, made with 100% Ugandan cotton, these shirts are available at 40,000/= for adults and 30,000/= for children. A percentage of proceeds from the sales will go towards the autism awareness campaign. Preorders can be made via udou.studio
Zimbaz also target to collect UGX 10 Million which will go to the TUHA Foundation, a physiotherapy center located in Komamboga and run by Tonny Buni who is an alumnus of the school.
“We have invited all the old boys of the school (SMACK) plus alumni of our sister schools to grace our matchday so we expect a successful event,” Kasule Joseph ‘Sixtus’ Kawooya, the Chairman Zimbaz told media at a press briefing held on Tuesday at Zimbali Bistro and Lounge in Kampala.
“We as the ZIMBAZ call upon the general public to help achieve this goal. Merchant codes will be shared on all our social media pages. This fundraiser underscores our dedication to making a positive impact in the community and is in line with the SMACK league corporate social responsibility initiatives,” Kawooya added.
Kato Jonan, Chief Marketing Officer, SMACK League noted that since they have a CSR component, initiatives like this keep their objectives alive.
“Most people know the SMACK league for games, socializing, networking and entertainment but we are also big on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” he noted adding that; “as a league, we have also done many activities and given support to various establishments, we have participated in medical support drives as well as working with different organizations to do CSR activities.”
Meanwhile, the presser also served as a platform to unveil an exciting line-up of activities curated to enhance the overall experience of this year’s Christmas edition sponsored by premium beer brand, Guinness.
The evening will showcase high-energy performances headlined by the legendary Afrigo Band, Ragga Dee, Mr.Silverback from the USA, and five other guest deejays. Surprise acts and a dazzling fireworks display are also in the works which will bring the night to a close in grand style.
Meanwhile, before the main event, Zimbaz will host a pre-matchday Kasiki on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Zimbali Bistro and Lounge. This provides an opportunity for camaraderie and celebration leading up to the big day
Zimbaz head into the weekend as log leaders with three match days to go. They have 34 points, two ahead of second placed Outkasts (’05). They will come up against 11th placed Cyclones (’13) on Sunday.
Matchday 16, aptly dubbed “The Networkers’ Christmas Edition,” will unfold at Legends Grounds. Entrance is free. Amidst the excitement, Guinness will be present to not only celebrate the joy of Christmas but also to enhance the overall experience of the SMACK League.

The SMACK League is a creation of the Old Boys of St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) and is used as an avenue to meet, network, socialize and exercise.
