Rivalry will be renewed on the International Women’s Day when Betway Kobs face reigning Champions Stanbic Black Pirates during the third last fixture of the 2018/19 Nile Special Rugby Premiership at Legends Rugby Club this Friday.

Betway Kobs top the table with 68 points, just two ahead of second placed Hima Cement Heathens. Stanbic Black Pirates are third with 59 points and are virtually out of the title race.

After the Pirates game, Kobs will sum up the season with two tight derbies against Warriors and Rhinos respectively. However, Heathens who are likely to get a bonus points against Walukuba on Saturday and against Rams and Warriors.

Hence, the Pirates game is very important for Kobs’ title run in and Prop Collins Kimbowa is aware of the task at hand. “It is a very tough game for both teams. We need to play our game, keep the ball for the ball in check by playing inch to inch till the end,’ Kimbowa noted. Pirates claimed a league double against Kobs last season.

However, this time round Kobs were the first side to condemn Pirates to maiden league defeat at their own new grounds, Kings Park in Bweyogerere.

With Pirates very familiar with Legends having left the turf a few months ago, Kimbowa has gone ahead to rule out any home advantage.

Both teams picked wins last time out with Kobs beating Buffaloes 05-38 at Kyadondo while Pirates condemned Warriors to a 62-10 mauling at their own backyard.

A win for Kobs will boost their chances but with Heathens breathing on their necks, any slip will dust their title bid.
