URA VS SC Villa, Luwero (4pm)

Tooro United vs Onduparaka, Fort Portal (4:30pm)

The 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda premier league second round starts this Tuesday with two fixtures on the card. Four-time champions URA host record 16-time champions SC Villa at their new home –Arena of Visions in Luwero in the first Sanyuka TV live second game while 13th placed Tooro United host 5th placed Onduparaka at the St Paul seminary in Fort Portal in the other game.

This season climax is likely to be filled with great soccer, some interesting sideline stories and plenty of drama. In fact there is already a lot of drama before resumption as some clubs almost missed out on the fixtures due to failure to secure home grounds while some clubs are likely to lose a host of players due to salary arrears arising from financial problems.

Vipers SC was the only side to have confirmed a new signing by yesterday after landing Paul Mucureezi on a three-year deal. The 27-year old had seen his contract at Mbarara City run out before crossing to the three-time champions.

SC Villa rallied to draw 1-1 against URA in first round in what was the last game at Luzira prisons grounds before the venue was suspended for poor playing surface. Both goals of the game came from the spot –with Brian Majwega giving the Tax Collectors lead before Ambrose Kirya equalizing in the stoppage time.

With no much changed squad at both sides, the fixture remains unpredictable. “Everyone in the camp is so set, everyone is eager to play because it is one of the big games in the league,” noted Shafiq Kagimu, the URA FC Skipper.

Only Asharaf Mandela played 90 minutes of all URA first round games and the defender-cum winger will be influential again against the former bosses.

URA also appointed new CEO Bridget Nakayenga to take over from Ivan Kakembo on an interim basis after the latter’s contract was not renewed.

With only half of the fixtures played (15), it is a title race for ages as the battle for glory may still go down to the wire with reigning champions KCCA FC sitting second, only four points adrift of leaders Vipers SC that sit top with 36 points.
