The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team, nicknamed the Teen Cranes, delivered a spectacular 10-0 demolition of Namibia in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, held at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Thursday.
The commanding victory was spearheaded by team captain Agnes Nabukenya, who netted an incredible six goals, leaving the Namibian defense in disarray.
The scoring spree began in the 6th minute when Nabukenya converted from close range, setting the tone for the match. She continued her dominance, scoring a fourth before halftime, while Rinah Ariho struck to make it 6-0 at the break.
Coach Sheryl Botes made several changes in the second half, introducing Sharifah Namutebi, Joan Kizza Namulindwa, and Rashidah Nakalema. Namulindwa added a seventh goal in the 65th minute, and Nabukenya rounded off her stellar performance with two more strikes to bring her tally to six. Substitute Isabella Blick Kabarozi sealed the rout in the 80th minute with a composed finish.
The Teen Cranes carry a massive advantage into the second leg, scheduled for Sunday at the same venue. The winner on aggregate will advance to face Kenya in the second round of the qualifiers.
