The first edition of the Tusker Malt Lager Golf (TML) Series ended on Saturday, March 2 at Uganda Golf Club (UGC) where it started way back in October 2018. After 17 weeks, the series accommodated seven events and was graced by six clubs; Uganda Golf Club, Tooro Club, Jinja Club, Mbarara Club, Palm Valley and Lake Victoria Serena Kigo. Over 1,000 golfers partook in these opening series.

The second series will tip off in July 2019 and the games will be taken to more clubs outside Kampala. Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) Managing Director Mark Ocitti confirmed that about two or more new golf clubs will be inducted into the series as they aim to broaden their wings across the entire country.

“We are set to take the game to many parts of the country with the TML series. With what we have achieved, we promise to make the next series even better,” Ocitti noted at the closing ceremony. He lauded TML series co-sponsors; CBA, Shell, Lets Go Travel, Kenya Ports Authority, Pepsi, Serena Hotels, and Ethiopian Airlines who have walked with them since day one.

To crown it up in style, golfers and even non-golfers were treated live-band music courtesy of the Janzi Band and a lot of goodies were won –with Uganda Professional Golfers Association receiving Shs 50m from Tusker Malt Lager.

Six lucky golfers won an all-expenses paid trip to Pattaya, Thailand. The Thailand treat is for the best female and male players as well as the top male and female teams.

The winners:

Men’s Team – Collins Balaful/Geoffrey Orach (51 points),

Women’s Team – Dorothy Nabirye/Sharon Kawanyi (51 points.)

Best Individual

Men: Paul Ndyaguma

Women: Peace Kabasweka
