The Gulu City Marathon has received a major partnership boost from Tusker Lite ahead of its second edition, slated for December 6, 2025 at Kaunda Grounds.

Tusker Lite, a household name in Uganda’s running and lifestyle circles, is set to bring its signature energy and vibrance to Gulu.

Building on the success of the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon held in August in Kasese, the brand aims to bring the same excitement and spirit to the northern city, promoting fitness, fun, and community engagement.

Tusker Lite celebrates bold individuals who live fully, chase their passions, express themselves freely, and embrace life with purpose, the same spirit the Gulu City Marathon hopes to inspire in everyone who takes part.

With participants including some of the top performers from the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon expected to storm Gulu, the brand now aims to expand its running footprint.

Speaking about the partnership, Denise Nazzinda, Brand Manager for Tusker Lite at Uganda Breweries Limited, said the collaboration highlights the brand’s commitment to supporting active lifestyles and uniting people through shared experiences.

“The Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon really showed us how running can go beyond fitness to create community and unforgettable experiences, and now we want to continue that energy in Gulu. We believe this partnership will elevate the Gulu City Marathon, and we’re excited for what’s ahead,” Nazzinda said.

The marathon will be crowned with an after-party, giving runners and revelers a chance to unwind and experience Gulu’s vibrant nightlife. Tusker Lite will light up the evening with a VIP experience for participants and guests.

“For most marathons, people just run in the morning and then head home. It’s good to see that the Gulu City Marathon will have an after-party, and as Tusker Lite, we are excited to make it more than just a race. It will be a celebration of achievement, culture, and connection. We aim to create experiences that celebrate individuality, progressiveness, and vibrant social energy,” she added.

Themed “Running for Culture and Heritage,” the event organised by the Great North Run Company targets 1,000 runners for this edition.

The Gulu City Marathon will feature the 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km fun and family runs. All runners who complete their races will receive finisher medals as a celebration of their achievement.

Registration for the marathon is now open, at a fee of UGX 60,000, which includes a customised event T-shirt and a string bag.
