The 2019 Kyambogo Run will take place on Sunday, September 1 from the Kyambogo University cricket Oval.

This year’s Run, organized by Beyond Sports Organization (BSO) in conjunction with Café Javas and Kyambogo University, was officially launched on Thursday morning at the Café Javas – City Oil Kamokya.

The Run that was started in 2015 initially for fun will now turn humanitarian as Café Javas plots to buy five incubators for yet to be identified health facilities.

This is line with the theme ‘run 4 premature babies’ that will be emblazoned on the runners’ kits. “We are really excited to be part of this run. We have always supported sports in Uganda but this run is very special as it translates into supporting premature babies,’ Café Javas Director Yasin Ahmed told the media at the launch. He explained that the five incubators they are plotting to buy will not be purchased using proceeds from the run but rather as a special package from Café Javas. This year’s chief runner will be Prince David Wasajja of Buganda Kingdom. “This is a very good noble cause and the Royal family supports such initiatives. There is no better way to support such a cause than to actively engage take part,” noted the Prince.

The run route will have 21km, 10km and 5km and over 2,000 participants from Kampala and beyond are expected to take part. The South African High Commissioner: H. E Professor Major General (rtd) Lekoa Solly Mollo will be Guest of Honor. Registration fee is for the Run is Shs20,000 at all Café Javas outlets around Kampala.
