The Uganda Cranes now know their group-stage opponents for the CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The draw, held on Wednesday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, placed Uganda in Group C alongside Niger, Guinea, and two teams yet to qualify.
The co-hosts—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—are poised to make history as East Africa prepares to host its first major continental football tournament. Uganda will look to impress on home soil, leveraging the passion of its fans to navigate a competitive group.
The draw, guided by CAF Tournaments Director Samson Adamu, featured regional football stars Hassan Wasswa (Uganda), McDonald Mariga (Kenya), and Mrisho Ngasha (Tanzania). FUFA President Moses Magogo and Uganda’s Minister of State for Sports Peter Ogwang were among the dignitaries present.
Magogo expressed his pride in the regional collaboration:
“This dream started in a restaurant in Egypt, and now, we’re hosting Africa in East Africa. We promise a memorable CHAN 2024 and look forward to building on this momentum for AFCON 2027.”
