The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced that the Uganda A team will represent the nation at the prestigious Emerging Nations T20 Series in Kigali, Rwanda, from November 19 to 29, 2024.

The tournament will feature strong contenders, including Rwanda XI, Rwanda A, and Zimbabwe Emerging, promising a competitive platform for rising cricket stars across the continent.

Led by veteran cricketers Roger Mukasa, who serves as captain, and Simon Ssesazi, the squad comprises a dynamic mix of seasoned players aiming to regain their form and emerging U-19 talents eager to make their mark. This diverse lineup underscores the UCA’s commitment to nurturing future stars while maintaining a strong competitive edge.

Richard Okia, UCA Selector and Team Manager for the tour, highlighted the significance of the tournament, stating, “This series aligns perfectly with our mission to build a high-performance culture and deepen the pathways from grassroots cricket to the senior national team. It offers players invaluable exposure to international-level competition, allowing us to identify future stars and build squad depth for Uganda Cricket’s long-term success.”

Head Coach Davis Turinawe emphasized the dual purpose of the event, explaining how it provides a stage for experienced players to refine their skills while fostering the development of younger talents. “Competing against teams like Zimbabwe Emerging and Rwanda’s best will push our players to new heights and simulate the demands of senior international cricket,” he said.

The Uganda A squad features a blend of youth and experience, including key players such as Anas Baig, Ronald Lutaaya, and Cyrus Kakuru. Supporting the team will be Head Coach Davis Turinawe, Team Manager Richard Okia, Physiotherapist Habiba Kulusum Anguyo, and Umpire Eric Wandera.
