The Uganda women’s national cricket team, Lady Cricket Cranes won’t be in the mix for the seventh edition of the Kwibuka Women’s International Twenty20.

The tournament is slated for June 4th – 10th in Rwanda, Kigali, Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced.

Albeit the team being flagged off yesterday and scheduled to travel tonight, the Lady Cricket Cranes who have been a permanent stay in the tournament won’t make the trip to Kigali due to some Covid-19 positive tests within the team’s bio-bubble.

“A comprehensive investigation will be taking place as to how this situation came about. At Uganda Cricket Association (UCA), we pride ourselves in the way we have
managed our Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
We have a proven track record in managing our space as justified by the recent successful senior men’s team – Cricket Cranes’ trip to Windhoek, Namibia for the
Castle Lite Series,” Uganda Cricket said via a press release.

They also say that they are doing their utmost to both; arrest and manage the situation adding that they will not only
