Uganda Cricket today launched the 2024 Boys Schools Cricket Tournament, set to take place from August 24th – 31st August in Jinja. Jinja will be hosting the tournament for the third year running and this eagerly anticipated event will bring together the best cricket-playing secondary schools from six different regions.

The tournament starts with a qualification round that will feature 53 boys’ schools from six different sports hubs in Uganda. 18 schools will compete for the title at the finals. Jinja SSS are the defending champions.

The annual boys’ schools cricket week will be hosted by Jinja SSS, organized by East Enders Sports Hub with UCA as the administrators. The games will be played at six different venues in Jinja including Jinja SSS (Main Oval), Jinja College (2 venues), Busoga College Mwiri, Kakira SS, and Kiira PS.

“We are thrilled to host the Annual Boys Schools Tournament this year, this edition of the boy’s schools cricket week has come at the perfect time when young cricketers in Uganda have been inspired by the senior men’s team at the T20 World Cup in West Indies. This gives them a chance to showcase their talent in the hope that they can grow into national assets that will represent Uganda at bigger tournaments. This opportunity also gives Jinja a chance to sell itself as a sports tourism destination, therefore we call upon sports lovers to come to witness the talent that will be showcased by the boys coming from all over the country. look forward to witnessing the remarkable performances and the unforgettable moments that this tournament will bring” – Isaac Imaka – Founder East Enders said.

“A big thanks goes to UCA for increasing the number of participating schools. This will go a long way in increasing our talent pool for representative teams as well as the future players for Uganda. We anticipate an interesting brand of cricket from the various schools as we look forward to a thrilling tournament”- Davis Turinawe – Development Manager Uganda Cricket said.

The event is made possible through the generous support of its partners East Enders, JACC, Sky View, and Jinja SSS, whose contributions have been instrumental in organizing this large-scale event.
