Practice Match
Uganda 5-0 Zambia

Uganda women’s national football team, Crested Cranes dispatched Zambia on Tuesday evening in a practice game as preparations for the TotalEnergies Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 22 continue.

The Crested Cranes showed no mercy against the Copper Queens, winning 5-0 in the game played at Granda Stade de Marrakesh.

Viola Nambi who plies her trade with Dornbirn in Austria orchestrated the damaged on Zambia, bagging a brace.

Fauzia Najjemba and Rita Kivumbi who are also foreign based, playing at BIIK Shymkent and Mallbackens IF in Kazakhstan and Sweden respectively came through with a goal each before second half substitute Fazila Ikwaput put the icing on the cake minutes after coming on.

Kivumbi broke the deadlock in the 37th minute before Nambi and Najjemba fired home in quick succession to give Uganda a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the break.

The dominance continued even after recess with Nambi getting Uganda’s fourth and her second on the day in the 57th minute.

Coach Lutalo rang changes bringing on Ikwaput, Lillian Mutuuzo and Phiona Nabbumba for Najjemba, Nambi and Hasifah Nassuna in that order.

There were further changes with Sheebah Zalwango and Sandra Nabweteme replacing Shamirah Nalugya and Kivumbi respectively.
