The StarTimes Uganda Premier League resumes this Tuesday after an 18-day festive break, with matchday 12 serving up decisive fixtures at both ends of the table.
Three games headline the return, including outings for title contenders KCCA FC and Vipers SC as the race for supremacy intensifies.
League leaders KCCA FC make the short journey from Lugogo to Kiira Road to face fourth-placed Police FC at the Police Arena. The encounter pitches first against fourth, with only five points separating the sides. KCCA welcome back Charles Lukwago, Shafik Kwikiriza and Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who are expected to play key roles against a Police side marshalled by experienced campaigners Said Kyeyune, Deus Bukenya and Umar Kasumba under coach Matia Lule.
Later in the evening at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, second-placed Vipers SC host relegation-threatened Mbarara City FC. The Venoms regain Allan Okello, Rogers Torach and captain Hilary Mukundane after international duty and know that victory is vital to keep pace with KCCA, who play earlier in the day. Mbarara City, third from bottom with 10 points, are desperate for a positive result to move away from the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, league newcomers Buhimba United Saints entertain Maroons FC at Royal Park, Butema. Buhimba are enduring a difficult run of form, having gone more than nine matches without a win and collecting just one point since matchday three. Maroons, currently seventh with 15 points, will be aiming for maximum points to close the gap on sixth-placed Kitara FC.
