The Uganda U-19 national cricket team is set to host a competitive tri-series against Tanzania U-19 and Uganda Emerging as part of their final preparations for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Nigeria.
Scheduled to take place from March 2 to March 8 at Lugogo Cricket Oval, the series will serve as a critical build-up for the young Cranes as they fine-tune their skills ahead of the continental showdown.
The tri-series is expected to provide Uganda’s budding cricketers with valuable match experience, an opportunity to test different team combinations, and a chance to build momentum before the high-stakes qualifiers.
Speaking about the significance of the series, Uganda U-19 head coach Emmanuel Isaneez emphasized the importance of the matches.
“This series is a vital part of our preparations for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers. It gives our boys a chance to gain match fitness, assess their strengths, and refine their strategies before heading to Nigeria. We appreciate the support of Tanzania Cricket and our Uganda A side for making this possible.”
Under Isaneez’s guidance, the team has been undergoing rigorous training sessions, with a focus on leveraging home conditions to sharpen their skills. The squad boasts a blend of experienced youth players and promising newcomers eager to make an impact on the international stage.
