Ugandan wins Tanzania Ladies Golf Open

Tooro golf club handicap 5 female golfer Peace Kabasweka won the 2019 Tanzania Ladies Golf Open on Sunday at TPC Moshi Club, Kilimanjaro.

The annual championship brings together top lady golfers from the Continent. Kabasweka, who managed a total gross of 226 from three rounds played from Friday to Sunday, led the 54-stroke play competition from day one; returning a gross of 77 on day one, 70 on day two and 79 on day three.

Irene Nakalembe, another Ugandan from Entebbe Golf Club, emerged runner up with a total gross of 232.

The handicap 4 star managed a gross of 83 on day one, 76 on day two and 73 on day three. Tanzania’s Angel Eaton finished third of a total gross of 235 (79, 79 and 77).

Uganda had seven representatives at the event. Left handed Gloria Mbagutta, handicap 7 finishing 9th with a total gross of 249. Sheila Kesiime finished 11th with a total gross of 251.

Resty Nalutaya finished 18th with a total gross of 278 whilst Lillian Koowe finishing 21st with a total gross of 289.

Tanzanian ladies; Hawa Wanyeche, Iddi Madina, Elias Chiku and Neema Olomi capitalized on home advantage to finish among the top 10.
