*Maroons 5-0 Busoga
*KCCA 3-2 Wakiso

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) newcomers, Blacks Power, were treated to a rude welcome to topflight football by ruthless BUL at former’s own turf in Lira on Saturday.

The hosts at Akii Bua Stadium were on the receiving end of five unanswered goals as the Bidco side looked to build onto their fourth place finish last season.

The 5-0 victory ensured coach Alex Isabirye’s fast and steadily improving side jointly top the table alongside Maroons, also winners over Busoga United with the same scoreline.

Braces from Richard Wandyaka and Karim Nduga, plus a goal by Jerome Kirya set the tone for a BUL outfit that made a bold claim of going for the title this season.

Ndugwa fired BUL in front on nine minutes before Kirya made it 2-0 inside 18.

Wandyaka then added two quick goals of his own on 25 and 29 minutes for a 4-0 lead inside the hour. Ndugwa completed the rout later on.

Elsewhere, URA and Express could only draw their respective ties.

URA fired blanks in the draw with Onduparaka, while Farid Rashid’s 63rd minute goal for UPDF cancelled out Allan Kayiwa’s opener for Express the 1-1 stalemate.

However, KCCA had to dig deep to starve off battling Wakiso Giants as the hosts prevailed 3-2 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Substitute Ashraf Mugume grabbed a brace for KCCA and Geoffrey Wasswa scored the other goal, while Owen Kasule and a Tom Masiko late penalty ensured a thrilling game for neutrals.
