Uganda Premier League clubs have applauded the continental football governing body CAF for the opportunity provided to them to learn more about the Club Licensing exercise.

Six CAF Licensing Instructors held a four-meeting with CEOs and leadership of the 16 clubs Premier league sides on Wednesday at Sheraton hotel although only URA and Tooro United FC had their club chairmen attending –with the rest being represented by CEOs and other officials respectively.

“‘FUFA requested CAF for this opportunity to meet the people who run the clubs. It will make magic for us when we continue with implementation of the exercise,” noted FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, who was however disappointed by the turn up of club chairpersons.

“You know these are the decision makers at clubs and when they do not turn up for such workshops, there will be no validity in their complaints once Fufa implements the licensing exercise,” he noted. CAF Club Licensing Manager, Ahmed Harraz told the clubs that Iceland decided to take on the exercise and implement the guidelines through UEFA which resulted into a good performance at the Euros and the FIFA World Cup.

The CAF Club Licensing Workshop climaxed on Friday with 44 participants from 23 English speaking member countries taking part. The participants were divided into two groups for the exercise that started on Monday 22nd April 2019 at Sheraton hotel, Kampala before the FUFA 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi officially closed it on Friday.
