Soltilo Bright Stars 2-1 UPDF

Vipers 2-3 BUL

KCCA jumped three places up into the top 10 for the first time this season after beating SC Villa 2-1 to earn the Kampala derby bragging rights on Friday.

Etienne Katenga and Ashraf Mugume scored the visitors goals at Wankulukuku while KCCA old boy, Charles Lwanga, netted Villa’s consolation in this StarTimes Uganda Premier League match.

Coach Abdallah Mubiru’s KCCA were winning only their fourth game in 12 matches this season, and it moved them to 10th place on 13 points. Villa’s third defeat in 12 games keeps them in sixth place on 19 points.

KCCA went ahead against the run of play on 15 minutes when Carlos da Silva Gui’s cross from the right was bundled in by Katenga after the ball had eluded Mugume.

However, Mugume couldn’t be kept off the score sheet for long as the forward doubled the advantage four minutes later.

KCCA old boy, Lwanga, pulled one back for Villa on 32 minutes but the visitors held on for all three points.

Meanwhile, at Kavumba Recreation Ground, hosts Soltilo Bright Stars edged UPDF 2-1 to move three places up to ninth on 14 points from 12 games.

Sam Kintu and Nelson Senkatuka – the latter netting his ninth goal of the season to top the charts – were on target for the home side while Rashid Faridi got UPDF’s consolation.

At St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, Jinja based side BUL FC beat hosts Vipers SC 2-3 in a match played under the floodlights meaning the former will spend Christmas on top of the league table.

Nicholas Mwere and Lawrence Tezikya earned BUL a 0-2 halftime lead. Yunus Sentamu pulled one back for the hosts earlier in the second half before Ibrahim Mugulusi stretched BUL’s lead to 1-3. Mohamed Ekbad pulled one back for the title holders towards stoppage time but it wasn’t enough to earn his side any point.
