Maroons FC were 1-0 winners against KCCA FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at Luzira Prions Grounds.

Fred Amaku’s 63rd-minute strike was the difference in a game that was watched by a huge crowd at Luzira.

KCCA FC had the chance to break the deadlock in the 32nd minute but Tshisungu Kankonde’s penalty kick hit the crossbar and flew out.

KCCA FC had a number of missed chances in the opening stanza but Kankonde’s inch-perfect freekick in the 6th minute was the biggest chance in the opening quarter of the game.

Allan Okello was fouled by Maroons’ skipper Ndihabwe in the 17th minute. Waiswa stepped up to take the freekick and was headed towards the goal by Mato but the hosts cleared their lines.

In the 31st minute, the referee awarded KCCA FC a penalty after a Maroons player had handled the ball in the box. Kankonde stepped up and hit the ball against the crossbar and out

After recess, Lwanga, Aheebwa, and Poloto replaced Mato, Kankonde, and Waiswa at the half-hour mark.

Maroons found the back of the net through Fred Amaku in the 63rd minute.

With a quarter an hour to play, Kagawa Ssenoga replaced Allan Okello.

In the 80th minute, Kagawa dribbled and crossed the ball in the box to Poloto who headed wide.

KCCA tried to even matters towards the end of the match but the home side fielded precisely to keep the Kasasiro Boys at bay.

KCCA FC will host Blacks Power FC next on Saturday, 5th November 2022 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo whilst Maroons will be away to Vipers SC a day earlier.
