The Uganda Premier League resumes today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following a three-week break dedicated to the Stanbic Uganda Cup, with two intriguing fixtures lined up in Luzira.

The early kickoff at Prisons Grounds will see BUL FC face Maroons FC in a fixture that carries significant history. The Jinja-based side will be determined to end a frustrating seven-year winless run at the venue. Their last victory at Luzira came in 2018, when goals from Deogratius Ojok and Hamis Tibita secured a memorable result.

BUL, guided by head coach Alex Isabirye, currently sit eighth on the league table with 30 points, while Maroons trail closely in ninth place with 26 points after 21 matches. With both sides separated by just four points, the encounter could have implications for mid-table positioning.

Later in the evening, attention shifts to Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, where Police FC take on Express FC in a highly anticipated clash. Police will be aiming to complete a rare league double over the Red Eagles—something they have not achieved since the 2017/18 season.

Police claimed a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season in Kamwokya, courtesy of goals from Umar Kasumba and Bedia Ikamba. A win on Wednesday would mark a significant milestone for the law enforcers.

Both teams head into the match looking to recover from recent setbacks. Express were eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Kitara, while Police will be eager to maintain consistency in the league.

In the standings, Police occupy sixth place with 35 points, whereas Express sit 10th with 23 points, adding further pressure on the hosts to secure a positive result.

The action continues on Thursday, April 9, with UPDF hosting Mbarara City in Bombo, while NEC face URA under the lights at Lugogo.

On Friday, Lugazi welcome Entebbe, before table leaders Vipers SC host Kitara in a crucial evening showdown at Kitende.

Saturday’s fixtures will see Calvary take on Buhimba United Saints, while traditional rivals SC Villa and KCCA clash at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
