SC Villa made a strong recovery in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, defeating BUL 2-1 at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Captain Ronald Ssekiganda and Hakim Kiwanuka provided the goals that propelled Villa to second place on the league table, bouncing back from their previous 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Mbale Heroes.
Ssekiganda opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a header from a Kiwanuka cross. The latter doubled Villa’s lead early in the second half with a spectacular volley after BUL failed to clear their lines.
BUL managed to pull one back in the 64th minute through Dickson Mataama, but Villa held on for all three points.
Meanwhile, Vipers SC continued to struggle, drawing 0-0 against Lugazi, a newly promoted side, in Najjembe.
This result leaves Vipers with four points from three games, while Lugazi earned their first-ever point in the top-flight league.
Villa now sits second in the league standings with six points, trailing leaders NEC FC by three points. BUL, on the other hand, remain 12th with just two points from their first three matches.
Matchday Three continues on Friday with fixtures between Wakiso Giants and Mbale Heroes, and KCCA FC against Kitara FC.
