Reigning Uganda Premier League (UPL) champions Vipers SC are set to face league newcomers Calvary FC in a rescheduled clash at Midigo P/S Play Ground at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, even as they miss three of their national team players.
Forwards Allan Okello and defenders Rogers Torach and Hilary Mukundane are away with the Uganda Cranes in Morocco, preparing for the AFCON 2025 campaign. The Vipers will also be without assistant coach Fred Muhumuza, who has joined the national team coaching staff.
Vipers dropped points last week in a 1-1 draw against NEC FC, but the encounter with Calvary provides an opportunity to reclaim momentum and move to the top of the league standings.
Despite the absences, Vipers boast quality replacements. Karim Watambala, Yunus Sentamu, Usama Arafat, and captain Milton Karisa will lead the attack, while Grant Masiko, Paul Mbowa, Livingstone Mulondo, Nicholas Wadada, and Ashraf Mandela provide defensive cover.
Calvary, currently at the bottom of the table with just one point, have yet to secure their first win of the season, making them formidable underdogs for the Vipers’ challenge
