The Uganda Premier League (UPL) action resumes today with Vipers SC traveling to Bombo to take on UPDF FC, while Lugazi FC faces BUL FC in the Najjembe derby.
Vipers SC, leading the league table with 28 points, have the chance to widen the gap to four points over second-placed NEC FC, who play Mbarara City on Saturday.
The Venoms also look to capitalize on KCCA FC’s Thursday draw against Police FC to create a comfortable seven-point cushion over the Kampala giants.
UPDF FC, sitting in 10th place with 17 points, remains unbeaten at home this season. Under the guidance of former Vipers coach Paul Kiwanuka, the army side hopes to maintain their strong home form.
However, history favors Vipers, who have won their last four meetings and remain unbeaten in their last 14 encounters with UPDF.
Meanwhile, the Najjembe derby pits BUL FC against Lugazi FC at Lugazi. BUL, currently 11th with 16 points, is desperate to end a five-game winless streak. A loss could see them slip below Lugazi, who are 13th with 13 points and eager to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Express and Police made moves up the table following wins over 10-man Soltilo Bright Stars and Mbale Heroes as KCCA dropped points at Police.
